Information for Medical & Healthcare Professionals
myADRT does not cater for any tailoring of ADRTs to the specific wishes of its users, it only offers one generic ADRT format as outlined below:
Without exception, all ADRTs generated by the myADRT service and stored within its database state that all of the below are the scenarios in which the user is specifying their refusal of life-sustaining treatment if they lose capacity:
- brain injury
- diseases of the central nervous system
- terminal illness
To avoid any doubt, all users of the myADRT service have also specified that they:
- confirm that the refusals of treatment in their Advance Decision are to apply even if their life is at risk or may be shortened as a result.
- wish to be given all medical treatment to alleviate pain or distress, or aimed at ensuring their comfort.
We have purposefully adopted this generic, blanket approach to ADRT compilation simply because it minimises all confusion and ambiguity about the ADRT both from the user’s point of view and also from your point of view too.
Knowing that all ADRTs generated by, and logged within, myADRT are all exactly the same makes it quicker and easier to understand the wishes of a patient when you see that they have an ADRT logged with myADRT.
